The Defender has the ability to wade up to a depth of 900 mm, making water crossings possible.§ The Wade Program in Terrain Response® raises the vehicle using Electronic Air Suspension. A 3D Surround Camera with Wade Sensing tells you just how deep the water is.
§Driving in floodwaters or moving water should be avoided. Driving through water can be extremely dangerous. The Wade Sensing feature only detects depth of water the vehicle is in at the present time and not of water ahead or around the vehicle. Therefore, Wade Sensing cannot predict whether it is safe to proceed and cannot detect steep drops in grade around the vehicle. The driver is responsible for determining the conditions of the route being driven.
Respond to the toughest of demands with the 3,500 kg Defender towing capacity. Optional Advanced Tow Assist also allows you to reverse a trailer while the Defender takes care of the counter steering.||

When driving across low-traction surfaces such as ice and snow, torque can be balanced between the front and rear wheels, providing greater stability and control.
An additional set of lower gears can prove invaluable in challenging conditions such as steep inclines or declines, off-road driving or when towing.
ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION
Choose from an access height of 50 mm below normal ride height, to an extended height of up to 75 mm with a further extended ride height up to an additional 70 mm in more extreme off-road conditions.
ELECTRONIC ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL
This available system offers the additional benefit of more traction on corners and more grip off-road. It does so by controlling the slip between the left and right wheels on the rear axle.

Features include Low-Traction Launch, Gradient Release Control and Hill Descent Control (HDC®).
Delivering a flat ride and optimum control by monitoring body and steering movements up to 500 times a second. This system reacts to driver and terrain inputs by offering continuously variable damper settings between soft and firm extremes.
ALL-TERRAIN PROGRESS CONTROL
Set and maintain a steady speed in challenging off-road conditions. Available All-Terrain Progress Control acts much like a low-speed cruise control and functions at speeds between 1.8 km/h and 30 km/h.
The Defender offers a refined 2.0L 4-cylinder Turbocharged Ingenium engine.
Helping to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, the P400 MHEV engine harvests and stores energy normally lost during deceleration and redeploys it.
