A quick, convenient way to ensure your vehicle remains up-to-date without the need to visit a Retailer. Software Updates are now available over Wi-Fi, or by using your vehicle’s SIM card.

After activating this feature, a notification will appear on your vehicle’s Touchscreen when an update is available. This can be downloaded and installed right away, or you can choose to postpone the update to a more convenient time.



  • What are software updates?

    Through Software Updates, you can wirelessly update your vehicle’s software. This enables you to conveniently keep the vehicle up-to-date without the need to visit a Retailer.

  • What is the benefit of updating the software?

    Software Updates offer a convenient way to keep your vehicle up-to-date, with less frequent visits required to your Retailer. They provide the ability to further optimize vehicle systems, such as the Infotainment system.

  • What software can be updated in my vehicle?

    Through Software Updates you will be able to maintain and fix your vehicle’s Infotainment and Telematics Module.

  • How often will I receive software updates?

    Land Rover will update the relevant modules as soon as a vehicle need or issue has been identified.

  • How can I turn the software updates on or off?

    You can switch the Software Update on or off through the Settings menu within the Software Updates section. When switching on the Software Updates, you will need to accept the terms and conditions to activate the feature.

  • Is my vehicle eligible for an Infotainment System software update?

    In order for your vehicle to be eligible for an Infotainment system update, the software version of your Infotainment needs to be at 18B or above. You can check what software version your Infotainment system is currently on through the Settings menu, within the Software Update section. The version of the Infotainment system will be displayed as a long string of characters, e.g. ‘S18B_18.25.3-174880’.


  • How do I connect my vehicle to receive infotainment updates?

    The Infotainment system can be connected either through a Wi-Fi connection or through the SIM card inserted into your vehicle. You may also use a hotspot connection through your mobile device, however, this may result in additional data charges.

  • How to connect my vehicle to receive Telematics updates?

    Telematics updates will be automatically connected on activation of Software Updates in the settings menu in Telematics enabled countries.

  • What happens if I lose connection during a download?

    If connection is lost during download, it will pause until the connection is re-established.

  • Are there data costs associated with a Software Update?

    You may experience data costs, if connection is achieved through the SIM card inserted into your vehicle. In some countries you will have received a SIM card on purchase of your vehicle, if used, you will not receive data charges for Software Updates.


  • How do I know if an update is available?

    When an update is available, you will receive a pop-up notification on the Infotainment system, for all types of updates. You can also check for available updates through the Settings menu, within the Software Updates section.

  • What do I need to do before installing an update?

    To perform the update you need to:

    Enable Software Updates from the Settings menu.

    Accept the Terms and Conditions prior to download.

    Successfully download the update to your vehicle.

    Maintain Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity during the process.

    Keep your vehicle locked and alarmed for Telematics updates. This is not required for an Infotainment update.

  • How do I perform an infotainment update?

    You will receive a pop-up on the in-vehicle screen when an update is available for download/installation. Once accepted, the update will not interrupt the driving experience. Upon completion you will receive a successful installation notification on the Infotainment.

  • How to update the Telematics Module?

    You will receive a pop-up on the Infotainment when an update is available for download. Once downloaded, you will receive a second pop-up to install the update. Once accepted, you cannot stop the process. Installation requires 35 minutes, where the vehicle cannot be used.

  • I have accepted a download. Can I still use my car?

    Yes, for all types of update the download process will not impact vehicle usage.

  • How long does the software update installation take?

    The installation may take up to 35 minutes. When installing Telematics Module Updates, you will not be able to use your vehicle during this time. You can still use your vehicle when installing an Infotainment update.

  • How do I know when the software update is complete?

    A notification on your infotainment system will inform you when the software has installed successfully.

  • Do I need to have a signal for the installation to take place?

    Yes. You need a mobile or Wi‑Fi connection to download and complete the installation.

  • Can I stop the installation once it has started?

    No. Once started, the installation cannot be stopped.


  • The installation has failed, what should I do?

    You can use your vehicle as normal. A failed download will not affect your vehicle’s functionality in any way. Please contact the Land Rover Customer Relationship Centre or your local Land Rover authorized Retailer and they will investigate further.

  • I skipped the update but I now want to install it. What do I do?

    You can access the update through your vehicle’s Settings menu, within the Software Update section. Select ‘Check for an Update’ and, if an update is available, a notification will appear, allowing you to begin the process. If you prefer, you can visit your local Land Rover authorized Retailer who will assist you with the update.

  • Can I update the software while out of the country?

    Yes. This may result in roaming charges, depending on your in-vehicle data plan.

  • Can I stop other people from updating my software?

    Yes. You can add a PIN to your vehicle to protect your Software Update settings. To manage this, select General settings > select Software Updates > select the lock icon.

  • Do I need an InControl account for Software Updates?

    No, you do not require an InControl account to perform Software Updates.

  • Why haven’t I seen a notification for the infotainment update?

    Infotainment updates require a SIM card to be inserted within your vehicle. Check your personal SIM is installed and working correctly. Or alternatively, visit your local Land Rover authorized Retailer who will assist you with the update.
