8-DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1

After arriving in Windhoek, you will be taken to a traditional African lodge. Dinner will follow a quick tour briefing, allowing you the opportunity to get to know your fellow explorers.

DAY 2

After breakfast, you will head to the Erongo Mountains. Home to Phillips Cave and Bull’s Party and their strange collection of gravity defying rock formations.

DAY 3

A drive through a series of mammoth sand dunes will take you to the picturesque town of Swakopmund. A surreal coastal settlement filled with German colonial architecture.

DAY 4

A trip to the Namib-Naukluft Park will allow you to see cheetahs, zebra, warthog in their natural environment, as well as an assortment of rare and wild birds.

DAY 5

An early morning excursion to Sossuvlei will allow you to scale one of the largest sand dune in the world, the towering Dune 7. An eerily surreal place surrounded by skeletal camel thorn trees.

DAY 6

A drive East will take you to Mariental. A small town that serves the surrounding communities. It’s also home to the Hardap Dam which attracts many species of rare birds.

DAY 7

Departing the Kalahari region, you will drive back to Windhoek where a farewell party will allow you to share you amazing experience with your fellow guests. A fitting end to your adventure.

DAY 8

A final day in the capital will allow for some last-minute shopping, as well as the opportunity to reflect on your incredible experiences as you explore this vibrant city for one last time.

GENERAL

  • Who Operates the Trips?

    The Land Rover Experience Adventure Travel program is operated by Agentur für Promotion und Service GmbH (APS) / Land Rover Experience Germany, who are licensed and authorized by Jaguar Land Rover. When you make a booking you will enter into a contract with APS GmbH.

  • Who does the driving?

    You do! There will be a Land Rover Experience instructor on hand to provide guidance and support, but these are self-drive itineraries, so you’re behind the wheel in the latest Land Rover vehicles.

  • What language will the trips be delivered in?

    The instructors/hosts will communicate with the guests in English.

PRICE

  • Do I need to purchase insurance to be able to participate?

    We recommend comprehensive travel insurance.

  • What is included in the price of the trip?

    General inclusions are as follows: driving activities, accommodation, breakfast, lunch & dinner, drinks with meals and airport transfers to/from Windhoek Airport (one fixed transfer arrangement for the whole group). Please refer to your individual tour itinerary for the exact inclusions. Please note that due to the level of driving involved, alcohol is only included with your dinner and will be limited. Soft drinks are included with all meals.

  • What isn’t included in the price of the trip?

    Flights, visa fees (if required), vaccinations, travel insurance, tips, all personal expenses (e.g. minibar in the hotel, spa treatments etc.) and any pre or post-trip arrangements that deviate from the tour itinerary.

DRIVING

  • I’ve never driven off-road, can I still go on the trip?

    Absolutely. There will be a qualified Land Rover Experience instructor accompanying each trip who will provide expert guidance and reassurance, but each trip is designed for drivers of all abilities.

  • What vehicle will I be driving?

    Guests will drive the Land Rover Discovery.

  • Are the vehicles manual or automatic?

    All vehicles are equipped with automatic transmission.

  • What are the driving license and minimum age requirements?

    All driving guests must be at least 19 years old and have held a full valid driving license for at least one year. An International Driving Permit is required.

  • Do I need to have a certain level of physical fitness to take part?

    To participate in the Driving Experience you should ensure that you do not know of any circumstances which would disqualify you from driving such as chronic back problems (or similar conditions), mental conditions which might impair your ability to drive, eyesight which doesn’t meet the standards for driving, pregnancy or heart problems.

  • How many guests are in each vehicle?

    Prices are based on two people sharing a vehicle. On request, a 3rd and 4th person can be booked into the vehicle.

  • Can I bring my own Land Rover on the Adventure?

    It is not possible to participate with your own vehicle due to insurance reasons.

TRAVELLING

  • If I am travelling by myself will I have my own vehicle?

    No - for safety reasons we do not allow anyone to travel alone in a vehicle. Solo travellers will be paired in the vehicle with another guest or if there is an odd number of guests, one of our instructors will accompany you in the vehicle. You will have your own room throughout the trip.

  • Are children allowed on the trips?

    In general the trips are suitable for children over 14 years, but please contact APS for further details and to discuss your individual requirements.

  • Can I book a whole trip for a private group?

    Yes, we will gladly facilitate a private tour for group bookings of 10 guests or more. The program can be tailored and adapted to meet the needs of the group.

  • Do we travel in a convoy?

    Yes, we will generally travel in convoy using radio communication between vehicles.

  • What is the maximum group size on each trip?

    To maintain a more intimate and exclusive experience, the maximum (& minimum) group size on each adventure will be 10 guests (two per vehicle).

  • Do I require a visa?

    Kindly contact your local consulate to check on your specific requirements. Should you require an invitation letter to receive your visa, please get in touch and we will provide you with this.

  • Which currency is used in Namibia?

    The local currency is Namibian Dollar (NAD).

  • We would like to extend our trip by a few days, can we do this?

    Absolutely. APS will be more than happy to help you plan and book extended arrangements before or after your trip. Please see contact details below.

  • Who can I contact if I require assistance with flight bookings or travel insurance?

  • Is there a specific type of luggage I should bring?

    We do not make any specific recommendations with regards to the type of luggage - the vehicles can accommodate suitcases as well as travel bags.

  • What is the dress code for evenings?

    Evening dress code is casual.

  • What happens if a trip does not reach its minimum numbers? Will it be cancelled?

    We endeavour not to cancel any of our departures but in some cases this may be inevitable. We reserve the right to cancel a trip if minimum operating numbers have not been reached 8 weeks before departure. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information.

  • Are the itineraries and accommodation confirmed?

    Your itinerary and accommodation are subject to change based on availability. We reserve the right to replace the itinerary and accommodation with similar alternatives.
